Antimony CAD tool models shapes via graph nodes and Python scripts

Antimony is a computer-aided design tool built around a graph-based engine where users connect nodes, each defined by a customizable Python 3 script, to build solid models. It combines a directed-acyclic-graph framework for tracking data flow, a functional-representation geometry engine for boolean CSG operations, and a standard library of shapes and transforms like rotate, scale, attract, bend and repel. The tool can export heightmaps for 2.5D fabrication and STL files with sharp-edge feature detection for 3D printing or manufacturing.

Microsoft adds Clustered Geometry and Partitioned TLAS features to DirectX

Microsoft has detailed two new DirectX Raytracing features, Clustered Geometry and Partitioned TLAS, now in preview, designed to avoid rebuilding ray tracing acceleration structures from scratch every frame. In Microsoft's own test on a Radeon RX 9070, switching to clustered geometry raised frame rate from 1.2 to 79 fps and cut memory used for those structures by about 90%, from roughly 7.5GB to 774MB.

New Godot tutorial covers tiling value noise shaders for GPU procedural patterns

A ninth installment in a Godot Engine shader tutorial series, built on version 4.7, demonstrates how to apply value noise with derivatives to a torus mesh and addresses tiling so the pattern repeats seamlessly across UV boundaries. The tutorial builds on a prior lesson covering value noise derivatives and walks through code changes needed to convert bumpiness and frequency parameters to vec2 types for independent tuning on each axis.

Nvidia releases RTX Mega Geometry 2.0 SDK with VRAM streaming for ray tracing

Nvidia has released version 2.0 of its RTX Mega Geometry SDK, which now streams high-density mesh geometry into VRAM on demand rather than requiring an entire scene's geometry to fit in memory at once. When a scene exceeds a set VRAM budget, the system reduces detail rather than repeatedly swapping data in and out of memory. The SDK, part of Nvidia's RTX Kit toolset, is available now on GitHub alongside the RTX Kit 2026.3 release.

Free site offers hundreds of downloadable paper polyhedra nets

A website hosts several hundred paper models of polyhedra, the geometric solids that have long drawn interest from mathematicians and artists. Visitors can browse pictures of the shapes and click through to printable nets that let them assemble the models themselves at no cost.

Control Resonant tested across 28 GPUs, showcasing DLSS 4.5 and path tracing

Remedy's Control Resonant, the sequel following Dylan Faden's search for his missing sister Jesse amid a Hiss invasion of Manhattan, has been benchmarked across 28 graphics cards. The game supports full path-traced lighting via Nvidia's RTX Mega Geometry technology alongside the complete DLSS 4.5 suite, including Super Resolution, Ray Reconstruction, and Multi Frame Generation.

Nature Feature Revisits Descartes's Legacy in Geometry

A Nature.com piece profiles René Descartes, examining how his mathematical innovations reshaped geometry and laid groundwork for modern analytical methods. The page content itself was largely inaccessible due to a browser compatibility notice, limiting the technical details available.

PhD Mathematician Reflects on Leaving Academia After Arithmetic Geometry Doctorate

A newly minted PhD in Arithmetic Geometry from the University of Florida writes candidly about choosing not to pursue an academic mathematics career, describing years of quiet, unhurried study under an advisor who never pushed toward the professor track. The essay explores the gap between the intense passion typical of career mathematicians and the author's own more ambivalent relationship with the field.

Fields Medalist Heisuke Hironaka, who solved singularities problem, dies

Mathematician Heisuke Hironaka has died, according to an obituary published in Nature. He was renowned for proving the resolution of singularities in algebraic geometry, a landmark result that addressed how to mathematically smooth out irregular points such as peaks, edges and self-crossings within geometric shapes.
