Snapchat introduced Plans, a new tool letting users create events, invite up to 200 friends, and track RSVPs directly within the app. The feature includes dynamic Bitmoji invitations that update based on responses, automated reminders before events, and a dedicated 'My Plans' tab on profiles for tracking upcoming and past gatherings.
A YouGov survey found that 34 percent of U.S. adults under 30 belong to at least four group chats, with 3 percent managing more than 20 separate threads across text and messaging apps. The report frames this as evidence that group chats have become the default tool for organizing nearly every social interaction, from book clubs to family reunions.
Google has acknowledged a bug in its Messages app that causes existing group conversations to unexpectedly split into multiple separate threads with the same participants, often erasing prior message history. The company is asking affected users to submit feedback tagged #splittingthreads to help its engineers investigate. Some users also report similar duplication happening in one-on-one RCS chats, though Google hasn't confirmed a link between the two issues.
