AMD CEO Lisa Su said in a Yahoo Finance interview that AMD now identifies primarily as a data center company, with that segment making up about 63% of its record $13.4 billion Q3 2026 revenue, up 97% year-over-year. Meanwhile, AMD's gaming revenue dropped 40% from a year earlier to $773 million, which Su attributed largely to AI data centers consuming memory and components and driving up GPU prices.
AMD posted third-quarter adjusted earnings of $2.09 per share on revenue of $13.38 billion, both ahead of analyst expectations, with revenue up 45% from $9.25 billion a year earlier. Data center sales nearly doubled and now make up 64% of total revenue, up from 47% a year ago. Shares rose about 8% in after-hours trading following the report.
In a recorded October 24 fireside chat with CASPA president Jimmy Cheng, Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan said he has spoken with AMD CEO Lisa Su about potential areas of collaboration, though he did not specify what those might involve. Tan also laid out plans to rebuild Intel's CPU business, customize chips for specific customer workloads, and grow its foundry customer base.
