Valve has begun taking reservations for the Steam Frame, a standalone VR headset priced at $1,049, marking its first major hardware push into virtual reality since largely stepping back from the category years ago. Software engineer Hank built a system letting him model a 3D object on his computer, then physically throw it toward his Bambu Lab P2S printer using a Meta Quest 3 headset to trigger the print. The workflow was built with help from an OpenAI GPT model and connects an Android app to a PC web server that talks to the printer's local API. Hank hasn't published the code yet but says he'll share it if there's enough interest.
Developers have released QuestStack, a new bootloader that chains known Android fastboot vulnerabilities to achieve full root access on the original 2019 Meta Quest headset. The exploit runs entirely through a web interface with no downloads required once the headset is connected to a PC.
