Dallas Dolen, a PwC leader in San Jose who oversees 7,500 employees, told Business Insider that responsiveness is the top behavior separating promoted employees from the rest. He said this means being willing to answer urgent calls or messages and pitch in when needed, citing his own habit of showing up when problems arose during his 20-plus years at the firm.
Ernst & Young's U.S. arm is spending $100 million this fiscal year on bonuses for employees who demonstrate distinctly human traits like adaptability, judgment and innovation. Payouts range from small $500 awards to as much as $25,000 for major contributions, five times the previous cap, and any employee can nominate a colleague with no upper limit on total rewards. The move comes even as EY's AI-related revenue jumped 30% year-over-year in 2025.
A new PricewaterhouseCoopers analysis, cited by Bloomberg, projects that worldwide spending on data centers could reach $31.6 trillion by 2050, with more than $15 trillion of that total in the United States alone. Under a more optimistic scenario involving faster AI adoption, PwC estimates spending could climb as high as $50 trillion over the next 25 years.
New survey data shows AI and automation use has surged in workplaces, with Bain & Company reporting 95% of U.S. companies now using generative AI and Intapp finding 72% of professionals using AI at work, up from 48% a year earlier. Despite these productivity gains, PwC's 2025 workforce survey found many employees remain anxious about how AI will reshape their jobs, revealing a widening gap between operational efficiency and employee confidence.
Three separate research reports from Deloitte, KPMG/PwC, and Accenture found that while companies are rapidly rolling out AI agents across business functions, few have built the operational structures, workforce readiness, or accountability frameworks needed to scale them safely. Deloitte's survey found only 15% of organizations have reached coordinated multi-agent deployments, and just 16% believe their processes are actually ready for agentic adoption, even though 74% of leaders expect half their business processes to be redesigned around agents by 2030. Separate Salesforce data shows active AI agent deployments tripling year over year, with employee trust and usage also rising sharply.
