A new GPU pricing survey shows graphics card prices have risen 35% over the past three months, with many mainstream cards selling well above their listed MSRPs. For example, the RTX 5070, originally priced at $549, is now reportedly selling for around $900 in the US.
HP has cut the price of its HyperX Omen Max 16 gaming laptop by $600, bringing it down from $2,699.99 to $2,099.99. The configuration includes an AMD Ryzen AI 7 450 processor, Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti GPU with 12GB GDDR7 VRAM, 16GB DDR5 RAM, and a 512GB SSD, with a 16-inch display available in OLED or IPS LCD at up to 1600p resolution and 240Hz refresh rate.
Benchmarks comparing the GeForce RTX 5060, RTX 5070 and Radeon RX 9060 XT across different processors found that Nvidia's CPU driver overhead issue persists even on these lower-end GPUs. When paired with weaker CPUs like the Ryzen 5 5600 or 5500, the cheaper RX 9060 XT sometimes delivered better gaming performance than the pricier RTX 5070. The testing follows earlier findings on the same overhead problem affecting higher-end RTX 5070 Ti cards.
