Apple's Series 12 Watch, running the new S11 chip, introduces Audio Intelligence, a suite of microphone-based features including sound recognition, Live Rewind, Siri Recap and Shazam integration. The tools let wearers replay the last 15 seconds of speech, get automatic conversation summaries, and receive alerts for sounds like alarms or crying babies, even without an iPhone nearby.
Apple unveiled the Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4, both built around a new S11 chip and a redesigned Health Sensing System aimed at improving heart rate and heart rate variability tracking. The system uses ring-arranged photodiodes, larger electrodes, and bigger, more efficient green LEDs to measure heart rate every five seconds, with HRV readings taken up to 24 times more often than before. Preorders for both models are now open.
Apple introduced the Watch Series 12 alongside the Ultra 4, iPhone 18 lineup and a foldable iPhone Duo, keeping the smartwatch's exterior design unchanged while overhauling its internals. The update centers on a new S11 processor and redesigned health sensors that improve heart rate accuracy, add deeper recovery tracking, and enable an AI-powered Audio Intelligence feature for transcribing conversations. Despite the upgrades, pricing stays flat at $399 for the Series 12 and $799 for the Ultra 4, even as iPhone 18 Pro prices rose.
Apple introduced the Watch Series 12 at its September event, retaining last year's design but overhauling internals with a new S11 chip and upgraded health sensors. The device gains features like more accurate heart rate tracking, deeper recovery data, and an AI-powered Audio Intelligence tool that can record, transcribe and save conversations. Despite these upgrades and new colors, Apple held the starting price at $399, while the Watch Ultra 4 starts at $799.
Apple has introduced the Watch Ultra 4, built around its new S11 chip and adding upgraded Siri AI capabilities alongside a feature called Audio Intelligence. Siri AI is initially available in English, while several Audio Intelligence functions are slated to arrive as a beta later in 2026.
Apple unveiled the Apple Watch Ultra 4 at its fall event, keeping the same titanium design and $799 price as its predecessor but adding an S11 chip with a quad-core Neural Engine that enables on-device Siri AI features. Preorders start September 9, with shipping and retail availability beginning September 18.
Apple unveiled the Watch Ultra 4, its top-tier smartwatch, featuring an S11 chip, upgraded heart-rate sensors, and battery life reaching 84 hours in low-power mode or 50 hours in normal use. The device introduces a daily readiness score, a VO2 Max test, and an AI-powered insights tab in the redesigned Health app, plus audio intelligence features for environmental sound alerts and conversation tracking.
Apple announced the Watch Series 12, featuring a new Health Sensing System paired with its S11 chip that enables higher-frequency heart rate and HRV monitoring, along with a new readiness score. The device also introduces Audio Intelligence features and Siri AI powered by Apple Intelligence, while a redesigned Health app with a Longevity tab and Health Age metric is set to arrive later this year.
Apple released a document detailing how its newly announced Audio Intelligence features—Siri Recap, Live Rewind, Sound Recognition, and Music Recognition—process audio without storing or exposing raw recordings. The company says these features rely on a hardware-isolated 'Secure Exclave' in the Apple Watch's S11 chip, which processes sound locally and never creates an accessible audio file. Any data transferred to iPhone is encrypted between Secure Exclaves, and users must manually activate features like Live Rewind and choose what text to retain.
Apple has revealed the Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4, both launching September 18th with preorders open now. The Series 12 starts at $399 for aluminum models, with titanium and ceramic options priced up to $899, and both watches run on a new S11 chip enabling Siri-powered audio features like Sound Recognition and Live Rewind. The devices also introduce upgraded heart rate sensors that enable a new Readiness score and Health Age comparison feature exclusive to these two models.
Apple introduced the Apple Watch Series 12 at its September 9th event, featuring a new Siri-powered Audio Intelligence system with live rewind and ambient 'Siri Recap' note-taking. The watch runs on a new S11 chip, starts at $399, and ships September 18th with health upgrades including continuous heart rate sensing and a new Readiness score.
Apple will introduce the Apple Watch Ultra 4 and Apple Watch Series 12 alongside its new iPhones this week. Reports point to an upgraded S11 chip replacing the aging S10/S9 silicon, a returning ceramic case option, additional sensors, and possible new health features including an expanded hypertension notification system and an always-on heart rate sensor.
