DIY project pairs FT232H USB board with CC1101 to scan 433MHz signals

A hobbyist built a 433MHz signal scanner by wiring a CC1101 radio module to a CJMCU-232H FT232H board, controlled entirely from a laptop via a Python script using pyftdi, with no microcontroller flashing required. The setup was tested against a cheap AliExpress copy remote with a fixed code, successfully decoding all four of its buttons, with testing against actual gate remotes planned for a follow-up post.

Developer runs 0.5B BitNet LLM across a 7-node ESP32S3 cluster

An open-source project splits a 0.5-billion-parameter 1.58-bit BitNet language model across seven ESP32S3 microcontrollers connected via SPI daisy-chain. One master unit handles tokenization, embeddings and final sampling, while six compute nodes each process four transformer blocks using 1.58-bit attention and MLP layers with KV caching in PSRAM.

Fly-brain-inspired algorithm Spi-Fly aims to fix electronic noses' memory loss

Researchers Kevin Max and Yang Shen at the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology have developed an algorithm called Spi-Fly that mimics how fruit fly brains process and remember smells. Published in Neuromorphic Computing and Engineering, the work targets a key weakness of existing electronic noses: their tendency to forget previously learned odors when trained on new ones.
