Apple announced that creators will soon be able to offer video content through Apple Podcasts Subscriptions, including subscriber-exclusive episodes, ad-free video, early access, and bonus content. The feature builds on Apple's existing subscription system, which since 2021 has let creators charge for premium audio perks like ad-free listening and bonus episodes across more than 170 countries and regions.
Spotify is broadening its podcast partner program this fall to 35 additional regions, including Italy, Spain, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Poland, Chile, the Dominican Republic and the Bahamas. Podcasters in these markets will be able to earn revenue from both ad and Premium subscriber activity across video and audio formats, while retaining sponsorship income and freedom to distribute elsewhere.
Apple's tvOS 27 update, arriving later this month, brings a redesigned Podcasts app with support for HLS-based video podcasts, mirroring similar additions in iOS 26.4 and macOS 27. However, the update removes the ability to add shows via custom URL feeds, a feature often used for paid or membership-only podcasts, on the Apple TV 4K version of the app.
