Apple's new M6 Mac mini keeps the same compact 5-by-5-inch design introduced in 2024 but adds faster networking and display support. The base model now includes 2.5Gb Ethernet as standard, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and improved multi-monitor output compared to the previous M4 version.
Amazon has reduced the price of Netgear's Orbi 770 Series tri-band Wi-Fi 7 mesh system from $549.99 to $449.99, an 18% cut. The system spans 2.4GHz, 5GHz and 6GHz bands on one unified network, offers combined speeds up to roughly 11 Gbps, and covers about 5,500 to 8,000 square feet depending on the bundle size.
Router shoppers often encounter confusing labels like dual-band and tri-band alongside terms such as Wi-Fi 6E, Wi-Fi 7, and 6GHz. Dual-band routers broadcast on 2.4GHz and 5GHz, while tri-band routers add a third channel, either a second 5GHz band or, in newer Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7 models, a dedicated 6GHz band. This extra band gives tri-band routers more overall bandwidth than dual-band alternatives.
Apple introduced two new chips, the M6 and M5 Ultra, alongside refreshed Mac Mini and Mac Studio desktops built around them. Preorders are open now through Apple, with most configurations shipping September 22, 2026. The Mac Mini starts at $899 and the Mac Studio starts at $2,499, matching pricing tiers from prior generations while adding faster processors and better connectivity.
Following the Wi-Fi Alliance's early 2024 rollout of the Wi-Fi 7 standard, routers and devices supporting it have become increasingly widespread. The new standard offers faster speeds and better performance in crowded network environments, while remaining backward compatible so older gadgets still connect without issues, albeit without accessing the newest features like 4K-QAM and Multi-Link Operation.
