Apple unveiled a new iMac generation powered by its M6 chip, skipping the M5 generation entirely. The base model starts at $1,499 with a 10-core CPU/GPU, while a $1,699 version offers 12-core CPU and GPU configurations. Preorders begin October 28th with availability starting November 6th.
Apple announced via press release a new 14-inch MacBook Pro built around its M6 chip, keeping the same design, ports, camera and display as the M5 model. New additions include Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 via the Apple N1 wireless chip, previously limited to Pro and Max configurations, plus a 12-core GPU Apple says delivers up to 30 percent faster graphics performance. Pricing starts at $1,999 for 16GB/1TB, with memory and storage upgrades costing more than before, and preorders begin October 28th.
Apple has released its 8th generation iPad Mini, two years after the previous model, adding an OLED display, a slightly larger 8.5-inch screen, an A20 processor, Wi-Fi 7, a landscape Center Stage camera, and an optional nano-texture glass for glare reduction. The base 128GB model now starts at $799, up from the prior model's price, with the nano-texture option costing an extra $100 on 256GB and 512GB configurations.

A report citing XDA and Netgear explains that routers tucked into corners or near drywall can suffer signal degradation as waves bounce back toward the antennae, reducing speeds. A TP-Link EAP770 Wi-Fi 7 access point, bought in 2023 before the standard was finalized, was found to silently corrupt large file transfers over its wireless link. The owner says TP-Link stopped updating the device after its initial 2023 firmware release, leaving a known fix—two sysfs values—unreachable through the device's restricted shell, which led them to write a custom kernel exploit to apply the fix themselves.
