Here’s Apple’s official method to charge your Apple Watch faster

With iOS 18, Apple introduced a “Slow Charger” warning for iPhone users looking to diagnose or improve the charging speed of their iPhones. Now, the same warning is coming to watchOS 26. Here’s how to find it. As spotted by MacRumors, Apple published a new support page this week with new details about Apple Watch charge speeds. As the document explains it: “With watchOS 26, if your Apple Watch detects that your charging experience could be improved, you’ll see a Slow Charger message in Settin

macOS Tahoe Incompatible with Mac Studio M3 Ultra

If you have a Mac Studio M3 Ultra and want to upgrade it to run macOS 26.0 Tahoe, then I’m afraid you’re going to have wait for Apple to build a new release that will install on your Mac. I’m very grateful to Ken who has tried unsuccessfully to upgrade from 15.7 to 26.0. There are plenty of others reporting exactly the same: the upgrade goes well until towards the end, then aborts and the Mac is restarted back into 15.7. The problem seems to originate from an error in its neural engine driver.

Ben Stiller to star in new Apple TV+ limited series, after stepping back from Severance directing role

Apple TV+ is staying in the Ben Stiller business. After reeling in the success of Severance, which Stiller was intimately involved with in the first two seasons, the streamer has managed to sign up Stiller in a rare acting capacity. He will star, alongside Jessica Chastain, in a new eight-part limited series called “The Off Weeks”. The series follows a writing professor (Stiller) who is going through a messy divorce, and engages in a romance with the mysterious Stella West (Chastain). For her p

The iPhone 17 makes the iPhone 16e even more pointless

We were pretty underwhelmed by the iPhone 16e when it debuted earlier this year, mostly due to its $599 price tag, which makes it a poor replacement for the budget-oriented iPhone SE. And now that the iPhone 17 has debuted, the 16e makes even less sense. For $200 more, you get a larger and better screen with ProMotion, support for MagSafe wireless charging, a zippier processor, two cameras instead of one — and double the storage. Sure, that price difference hurts a bit, but I think the iPhone 17

iPhone 17 Pro Review: Practical Perfection With Two Capital P’s

2025 Deciding on whether to get an iPhone 17 Pro or 17 Pro Max couldn’t be easier. These two “pro” phones have no compromises. Whereas the iPhone Air is all about showing off its ridiculously thin and light design, the iPhone 17 Pros go in the opposite direction with thicker and heavier designs. Apple is basically saying, “F*ck all that skinny noise, let’s throw everything but the kitchen sink at them.” Even better cameras on the front and back? Check. The longest battery life of any iPhone? Apple promises software update to fix ‘very rare’ iPhone Air camera glitch

My friend Henry Casey at CNN Underscored published his iPhone Air review this afternoon, and he noticed an odd imaging problem with the camera. Apple says a fix is coming in a future software update. From Henry’s review: “I also noticed an odd imaging problem at this concert, where one out of every 10 or so photos taken on the iPhone Air and iPhone 17 Pro Max have small blacked-out portions, including boxes and parts of white squiggles from the big LED board behind the band.” An Apple spokesp

Apple prepares suppliers for an iPhone sales boost next year, fueled by the new foldable model

Apple is apparently preparing its supply chain for an uptick in new iPhone sales next year, according to a new report by Nikkei. The company has apparently targeted sales of about 95 million iPhone 18 models in 2026, noting that the new lineup won’t arrive until the fall. While the new foldable model will draw interest, Apple is expecting sales to be up across all iPhone 18 models. The company seems to be indicating that it expects a halo effect, where people are enticed into upgrading based on

A MacBook Pro touchscreen? About damn time

It's somewhat ironic that Apple, the company that popularized the use of capacitive touchscreens with the iPhone and iPad, has been staunchly opposed to bringing our fingers anywhere near MacBook screens. Meanwhile, Microsoft and PC makers jumped at the opportunity to build touchscreen laptops years ago. The tablet-focused Windows 8 was a failure, sure, but touchscreens led to excellent convertible notebooks and hybrid tablets like the Surface lineup. Now, according to a new rumor from longtime

A touchscreen MacBook may finally launch next year - what we know

A more affordable MacBook with iPhone chip won't get touchscreen. iPads should still be fine, despite sharing features with MacBooks. For years, there have been rumors of Apple working on adding a touchscreen to its MacBook lineup. In 2023, Bloomberg reported active development of the device, which was first slated to launch in 2025. I

The Outsiders is a beautiful new exercise app from the developers of Gentler Streak

I’ve written before about how Gentler Streak is by far my favorite exercise app due to its human-first approach to exercise. Today, the developers behind the app are introducing The Outsiders, which takes the same approach to high-level training. Here’s what it looks like A familiar approach to performance training Gentler Streak is an App Store favorite because, instead of taking the standard “push-it-to-the-limit” attitude to exercise, it focuses on rewarding and recovering for a more pleasa

AirPods Pro 3 vs AirPods Pro 1: What’s new after two generations?

AirPods Pro 3 are set to launch in just two days, and they’re a rather notable upgrade – even if you’re coming from the previous-generation AirPods Pro 2. But, if you skipped that upgrade – AirPods Pro 3 are a massive leap for a plethora of reasons. Here’s exactly what you gain after 6 years of upgrades. Better noise cancellation This is the easiest thing to point out, especially since Apple themselves highlighted it in the keynote. Compared to the original AirPods Pro, noise cancellation perf

Apple Photos app corrupts images

The Apple Photos app sometimes corrupts images when importing from my camera. I just wanted to make a blog post about it in case anyone else runs into the problem. I’ve seen other references to this online, but most of the people gave up trying to fix it, and none of them went as far as I did to debug the issue. I’ll try to describe the problem, and the things I’ve tried to do to fix it. But also note that I’ve (sort of) given up on the Photos app too. Since I can’t trust it to import photos fr

MacBook Pro May Be Finally Getting a Touchscreen

Get your swiping fingers ready. According to a reliable insider, Apple will introduce touchscreen capability to the MacBook Pro for the first time with the launch of the OLED MacBook Pro in late 2026. Don't miss any of our unbiased tech content and lab-based reviews. Add CNET as a preferred Google source. Apple Intelligence’s required iPhone storage in iOS 26 is actually good news

Apple Intelligence is entering its second year, and iOS 26 adds many new and improved AI features. But despite everything new, there’s surprisingly good news for iPhone storage requirements in the new update. Apple Intelligence still has the same 7 GB storage requirement in iOS 26 Last year, Apple Intelligence launched in iOS 18.1 with a selection of features, followed by a steady drip of new additions throughout iOS 18.2 and beyond. One trend I noticed at the time was that those new features

Airbuds is the music social network Apple and Spotify wish they had built

A new social network has been quietly blowing up with Gen Z and younger, and it’s not from Meta. San Francisco-based Airbuds offers a mobile, social app that lets people express themselves through their music. Users can share what they’re streaming with friends through a smartphone widget that works with a range of streaming services. On Wednesday, Airbuds is announcing its raise of $5 million in funding from early-stage venture capital firm Seven Seven Six, founded by Reddit co-founder Alexis

Inside the Apple audio lab where AirPods are tested and tuned

When you enter the building that houses Apple’s audio lab, venture just beyond reception and you’ll encounter a massive vintage stereo setup. The deck and accompanying speakers were a gift from Steve Jobs to the team of engineers who work in this office. The group sees the old-school tech as a source of inspiration, but also as a reminder of Jobs’ obsession with both music and sound. More than inspiration, though, the stereo is a reminder to the experts in software, acoustics and sound design h

Stategraph: Terraform state as a distributed systems problem

Why We're Building Stategraph: Terraform State as a Distributed Systems Problem TL;DR why-stategraph.tldr $ cat why-stategraph.tldr • Terraform state shows distributed coordination issues but uses file primitives. • File blob (100% read/lock) vs. change cone (~3%). • Stategraph → graph state, ACID transactions, subgraph isolation. The Terraform ecosystem has spent a decade working around a fundamental architectural mismatch: we're using filesystem semantics to solve a distributed systems probl

iPhone 17 Pro review: How pro can you go?

When Apple announced the iPhone 17 Pro last week, it touted that the addition of the iPhone Air in the lineup allowed it to take the Pro models “to an entirely new level of performance and capabilities.” I’ve been testing the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max for the last week to find out just how far Apple has pushed those limits. Design Apple says the iPhone 17 Pro features an aluminum unibody design that is “crafted with a lightweight aerospace-grade 7000-series aluminum alloy.” It’s not

Report: Apple inches closer to releasing an OLED touchscreen MacBook Pro

At multiple points over many years, Apple executives have taken great pains to point out that they think touchscreen Macs are a silly idea. But it remains one of those persistent Mac rumors that crops up over and over again every couple of years, from sources that are reliable enough that they shouldn’t be dismissed out of hand. Today’s contribution comes from supply chain analyst Ming Chi-Kuo, who usually has some insight into what Apple is testing and manufacturing. Kuo says that touchscreen

Car Keys in Wallet are about to launch for these three vehicle brands

At the start of the summer during WWDC, Apple announced that car keys in the Wallet app would soon be offered by 13 new vehicle brands. Now, it looks like the first three new brands might almost be here. Three new car key brands now ready for Wallet support in Apple’s backend, pending launch In a new post on X, Aaron Perris shared that Apple’s backend has recently been updated to get ready for the launch of two car key additions: Smart and Voyah. Additionally, in recent weeks a similar change

On iOS 26 with a T-Satellite plan? These six iPhone apps work via satellite

When T-Mobile launched its T-Satellite service back in July, iPhone users were limited to text messaging via satellite – but the company promised that support for selected additional apps would follow. With the launch of iOS 26, the company has started to make good on that promise, with support for six apps so far. Notably, you don’t need to choose T-Mobile as your carrier in order to subscribe to the service … T-Satellite from T-Mobile We’d known since 2022 that T-Mobile would be SpaceX’s fi

You absolutely should not buy Apple’s iPhone Air MagSafe battery pack

Apple released its thinnest phone yet last week, the iPhone Air, and revealed the new iPhone Air MagSafe Battery alongside it. The existence of a specially-made battery pack wasn’t a big surprise to me, because there had been rumors of the iPhone Air for months leading up to the event. Everyone was prepared for the thinnest iPhone ever to make some battery life sacrifices to achieve its svelte design. However, what was a surprise to me was how much Apple leaned on the new battery during the iPh
