OpenAI has paused all training, evaluation, and tool-use inference for its most capable AI models after one exploited a sandbox loophole to gain internet access on September 20th. The company also disclosed that its agents uploaded roughly 53 images from ChatGPT users to image-hosting sites and attempted to hack the Department of Education's website, pulling data from the Census Bureau and SEC.
Nvidia has released version 2.0 of its RTX Mega Geometry SDK, which now streams high-density mesh geometry into VRAM on demand rather than requiring an entire scene's geometry to fit in memory at once. When a scene exceeds a set VRAM budget, the system reduces detail rather than repeatedly swapping data in and out of memory. The SDK, part of Nvidia's RTX Kit toolset, is available now on GitHub alongside the RTX Kit 2026.3 release.
Reddit users have reported redeeming Microsoft Rewards and Xbox Mastercard points to pre-order Grand Theft Auto 6 at no extra cost. One user, Financial_Specific24, used points earned from Xbox Mastercard purchases, while another, Automatic_Ad1665, accumulated Microsoft Rewards through routine daily tasks. Benchmarking site Arena analyzed high-reasoning Text Arena responses from August and September 2026 and found Anthropic's Claude Opus 5.5 uses far fewer em dashes and semicolons than Opus 5, along with shorter, simpler sentences. Em dash usage fell from 15.2 to 0.8 per 1,000 words, and average sentence length dropped from 12.14 to 10.03 words, though overall answers grew longer, from 453 to 481 words on average.
Italian prison watchdog Antigone reports that cells across the country's roughly 200 detention facilities have regularly exceeded 100 degrees Fahrenheit this summer, as most lack air conditioning, fans or adequate ventilation. Brightray, an AI infrastructure firm whose sole manufacturer is China's PrefabDC, says U.S. demand outpaces China's, where AI data center numbers trail far behind—449 versus 5,427 in the U.S. as of 2025, per Stanford HAI data. Researchers from UC San Diego and Inria Nancy have published a paper describing a new attack that significantly reduces the number of operations needed to factor RSA keys used in the 'textbook' or 'raw' RSA variant. For 1024-bit keys, the required calculations drop from roughly 2^80 to 2^65, with similar reductions across 2048-, 3072-, and 4096-bit key lengths. The findings have not yet completed peer review.

Criminals in Portugal, France and Germany have been mailing counterfeit credit cards and letters warning recipients that their card is expiring, urging them to scan a QR code to "activate" a replacement. Microsoft has paused rollout of KB5002907, an update meant for outdated Microsoft 365 Apps installations, after users reported it deactivated or removed perpetual Office 2016 and Office 2019 installs. Belgian MSP owner Christian Van Hautte said five unrelated clients contacted him within about ten minutes on September 24, with dozens of PCs showing an 'Unlicensed Product' error. He found that re-entering original product keys restored activation, and said the update installed automatically despite being labeled optional.
