Shape Island is a fun stop-motion animated series that debuted on Apple TV+ in 2023 to critical acclaim. And if you and your family haven’t seen it yet, now’s a good time to catch up, as Apple just announced the premiere date for season 2.
Shape Island returns on August 29
The show is based on the best-selling Shapes picture book trilogy by Mac Barnett (National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature by the Library of Congress) and Jon Klassen. Both also co-created, and work as executive producers on the show.
The story centers around three geometric best friends: a cube called Square, a sphere called Circle, and a pyramid called Triangle. Together, they explore their home island, and use their complementary abilities to tackle puzzles while learning from each other.
Season one of Shape Island won a Children’s and Family Emmy Award, and season 2 marks the return of voice actors Yvette Nicole Brown (Frog and Toad) as the narrator, Harvey Guillén (Puss in Boots: The Last Wish) as Square, Scott Adsit (Big Hero 6) as Triangle, Gideon Adlon (Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths) as Circle.
Season two premieres on August 29, and you can stream season 1 now on Apple TV+
Apple TV+ is available for $9.99 per month and features hit TV shows and movies like Ted Lasso, Severance, The Studio, The Morning Show, Shrinking and Silo.
