Researchers studying ctenophores, gelatinous marine creatures often called comb jellies, have used their genetics to probe fundamental questions about animal evolution, including the origins of nervous systems and bioluminescence. A 2023 study analyzing chromosome structure bolstered the argument that ctenophores, not sponges, split off first from the rest of the animal kingdom, challenging over a century of scientific consensus.

Nature has published an author correction to a 2017 paper on genomic deletion of malic enzyme 2 (ME2) in pancreatic cancer, fixing several figure mistakes made during assembly. These include a duplicated AMPKα immunoblot image, an incorrect β-actin loading-control blot, and a mislabelled timepoint in bioluminescence imaging data.

The authors of a study on B-cell selection thresholds in acute lymphoblastic leukaemia issued a correction after discovering an image duplication between Fig. 4d of this paper and Fig. 3l of another publication from the same research group. A separate duplication was also found within Extended Data Fig. 6e. Both figures have now been replaced with the correct original bioluminescence data and source files, including time stamps.
