Developer Mr. Rubik is preparing an update for the Nintendo DS-themed Nitrodeck Launcher that lets it run across two screens on Android handhelds like the Anbernic RG DS. A demo video shows the launcher working smoothly, including a recreation of the DS startup screen, with the update expected on the Play Store within a week or two.
Retroid Pocket has launched a third handheld in its Duo family, the Duo Lite Plus, which pairs the slim body of the Duo Lite with the more powerful Qualcomm Dragonwing Q-7790 chip used in the standard Duo. It's priced at $219 (or $199 with an early bird code) and ships mid-November, arriving just over a week after preorders opened for the original Duo and Duo Lite models.
Retroid released a short teaser confirming a new dual-screen retro handheld called the Pocket Duo, styled after the Nintendo DS. The video revealed only a dark glimpse of the device, withholding specs, pricing and release timing, though it appears to use a clip-free, cable-free clamshell design rather than Retroid's existing screen add-on accessory.
ANBERNIC revealed its RG DS Plus handheld in a YouTube video, showing dual 4.3-inch screens, a free-stop hinge, and a capacitive stylus that stores in an integrated slot like the original Nintendo DS. The device runs Linux rather than Android and will ship with a new custom DS emulator called NNDDSS, which supports screen swapping, touch input, save states, microphone use, and over 70 shader options.
