Bentley has formally revealed the Torcal, its first battery-electric vehicle, following weeks of camouflaged prototype testing. The car sits below the Bentayga in size and pricing, shares underlying technology with Porsche via the Volkswagen Group, and comes in a standard version with 810 hp and a more powerful Torcal S variant with 875 hp. Bentley has not yet disclosed US pricing.
Bentley revealed the Torcal, its fourth model line and first all-electric vehicle, offering up to 375 miles of WLTP range and 16-minute 10-80% fast charging at 400kW. The dual-motor SUV produces up to 888 PS and 1,350 Nm in its sportiest S trim, reaching 60 mph in 2.9 seconds, while CEO Frank-Steffen Walliser called it one of the best Bentleys ever made.
Bentley let journalists ride in a heavily disguised preproduction version of its upcoming 2027 Torcal, an electric SUV built on the same platform as the electrified Porsche Cayenne. The vehicle features artificial exterior body panels and interior coverings to hide its true design, and despite being smaller than the Bentayga, it offers a notably spacious cabin and refined ride quality using off-the-shelf two-chamber air suspension.
At an event in Monterey where Bentley debuted its new Supersports, the company also brought an original Super Sports from its archive—one of just 18 built between 1925 and 1927. That early model was a shortened, lightened version of the standard 3 Litre car, designed for speed and driver engagement, with bodywork customized by outside coachbuilders and a transmission lever mounted outside the cabin.
Bentley let Ars Technica ride in a camouflaged prototype of the Torcal, its debut battery-electric model, shorter than the Bentayga but similarly spacious inside. The SUV shares underlying engineering with the Porsche Cayenne EV and targets roughly 300 miles of EPA range with 400 kW DC fast-charging, producing over 850 PS and more than 1,000 Nm of torque.
