Forget Search, these 2 Google services desperately need Preferred Sources instead

Andy Walker / Android Authority It seems like everyone celebrated the announcement of Preferred Sources for Google Search. Don’t get me wrong; it’s a good idea. Giving consumers more control over their internet experience is definitely the way to go. However, I find it a somewhat pointless addition to a tool I use to find a variety of sources and not merely highlight my favorites. Beyond Search, I argue that two other Google products would benefit from Preferred Sources: News and Discover. I’v

After initially saying AirPods Pro 3 weren’t slated to be released until 2026, Kuo now says they’re ready to go and will be unveiled next week alongside the iPhone 17. Kuo’s latest report corroborates rumors from other sources, including Bloomberg. Kuo elaborates, saying that we can expect another update to AirPods Pro next year, as Apple continues its work on adding cameras to the earbud

Smart Wi-Fi power strips are a great way to save on your power bill. But do they pay for themselves? Adrian Kingsley-Hughes/ZDNET Follow ZDNET: Add us as a preferred source on Google. ZDNET's key takeaways Leaving devices plugged and switched on can be wasteful. Monitoring usage and remote switching helps reduce bills. This Tapo smart power strip is a great option to monitor power consumption, and at $45, it pays for itself. I have three 3D printers that are on the go a lot of the time. I

Zuckerberg caught on hot mic telling Trump 'I wasn't sure' how much to promise to spend on AI in the US

US President Donald Trump jokes with Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg (L) as he hosts tech leaders for a dinner in the State Dining Room of the White House in Washington, DC, on September 4, 2025. (Photo by SAUL LOEB/AFP via Getty Images) Mark Zuckerberg has certainly come a long way in his relationship with President Donald Trump. Almost exactly a year after the president threatened the Meta CEO with imprisonment, the two sat side-by-side at a White House dinner, alongside numerous other tech CEOs. T

Buy the iPhone 16 or wait for iPhone 17? My advice after years of phone reviews

Kerry Wan/ZDNET Follow ZDNET: Add us as a preferred source on Google. Like clockwork, a new iPhone has made its way through the rumor mill in August, and users are beginning to wonder if they should buy what's currently available or wait until fall to see how things play out. Based on past trends, there's a good chance Apple will unveil the iPhone 17 series next Tuesday. So, should you pick up an iPhone 16 from your local Apple store today or play the long (but not that long) game? Also: App

A Sitting President Is Making Billions Off Crypto, Which Feels Like a Bit of an Outrage

Before his first presidential bid, TV personality and real estate tycoon Donald Trump was doing just fine, financially speaking. The benefactor of a $5.5 million trust fund, adjusted for inflation — not to mention a $20 million inheritance from his father, split with his siblings — Trump's actual net worth has always been a hazy target for estimates. As he left office in 2021, Trump's net worth seemed to be around $2.3 billion, according to Forbes, thanks to legal fallout and a real estate port

This Robot Vacuum Has 4WD and Fast Charging Like An Electric SUV. Here’s Why It Matters

Most robot vacuums have two wheels in the back that are directly powered, though they may still have front roller that allows them to move smoothly. This works fine for most people’s homes but if, like me, you have a lot of dramatic thresholds that measure an inch or more, you’ll find your robot cleaner getting stuck a lot. Ecovac’s new Deebot X11 Pro Omnicyclone (X11 Pro Omni), showcased at IFA 2025, is designed to tackle this problem by giving it four-wheel drive and the ability to climb thres

You are rapidly running out of reasons to not get yourself a projector

Stephen Schenck / Android Authority I feel like a lot of people follow a similar journey when it comes to projectors. They’re initially wowed by the allure of a giant picture, bringing the cinema experience home. And maybe they’re also intrigued by the flexibility of being able to set things up at a moment’s notice wherever there’s a blank wall. But then the reality of the tech quickly sets in. For all the promise they offer, projectors have been plagued since day one by compromise after compr

Will Apple Launch AirPods Pro 3 This Year? Here's What We're Expecting

It's looking like we won't see a new version of the AirPods Max this year, but predictions still dictate that there could indeed be AirPods Pro 3 at Apple's iPhone 17 launch event on Tuesday. Apple last updated its flagship AirPods Pro buds in 2022 and released two all-new versions of Apple's open earbuds -- the AirPods 4 and AirPods 4 with Active Noise Canceling -- at last year's iPhone 16 event. While there's no guarantee we'll get the AirPods Pro 3 this year, Apple has announced a new model

Meraki Espresso Machine Review: Fine Grind, Loose Fit

In theory, you'd like your espresso machine to contain everything you need to make good coffee, including a grinder for fresh beans. But in practice, this hasn't always been the case. The classic knock on espresso machines with built-in grinders is that the grinders have often been kinda terrible. That situation is changing fast, as consumers start paying attention—and as the conventional wisdom seeps in that grinders are one of the most important components to making good coffee. Major Amazon Prime Benefit Faces Crackdown Next Month

If you're using a friend or family member's free Prime shipping and you don't live in the same household, you might need to pay another monthly cost. According to Amazon's updated customer service page, first reported by The Verge, the retail giant is ending its Prime Invitee benefit-sharing program on Oct. 1. Amazon isn't the first company to prevent membership sharing between family and friends. The e-commerce giant is just the latest to follow Netflix's account-sharing crackdown. We also saw

Gear News of the Week: Veo 3 Comes to Google Photos, and Garmin Adds Satellite Comms to a Watch

Google via Julian Chokkattu A few months ago, Google debuted a feature in Google Photos that lets you convert your existing photos into short videos using generative AI. These videos introduce slight synthetic movements to your stills, so a person may appear to slightly shift around in the frame, or a picture of your sleeping pup could gain a leg twitch. This week, the company upgraded this feature with its Veo 3 video generation model, which boosts the quality of the results. To play around w

Pixel 10 vs. Pixel 10 Pro vs. Pixel 10 Pro XL: How Google's Latest Phones Compare

Google's new Pixel 10 phones are here, and they boast a handful of spec upgrades over their predecessors, as well as more AI features. The three models look very similar to last year's Pixel 9 phones. There's a standard Pixel 10, a higher-spec Pixel 10 Pro and a large Pixel 10 Pro XL. There are still some differentiators between the baseline and Pro models, but that lead is shrinking with more top-level features trickling down. All in all, they're powerful handsets that rank among the year's b

Best MacBooks We've Tested (September 2025)

The first fork in the road you'll come to when shopping for a MacBook is whether to follow the Air path or head down the Pro road. For people who are looking for an everyday home laptop or a work laptop for running basic office apps, a MacBook Air will suffice. An Air is also a better pick for students on tight budgets. For creative types who need the added processing and graphics muscle of Apple's new M4 Pro and Max chips, a MacBook Pro is worth the added cost. To help you find the right MacBoo

SQL needed structure

Published 2025-09-04 Here are two pages from the internet movie database: There are two things to note about these pages. The data on the page is presented in a hierarchichal structure. The movie page contains a director, a list of genres, a list of actors, and each actor in the list contains a list of characters they played in the movie. You can't sensibly fit all of this into a single flat structure like a relation. The order of the hierarchy isn't the same on both pages. On one page we hav
