Steam now bans games that violate the 'rules and standards' of payment processors and banks

Steam has added a new rule to its guidelines that has resulted in certain games getting banned, according to a report by Automaton . The new clause states that "content that may violate the rules and standards set forth by Steam's payment processors and related card networks and banks, or internet network providers" is not allowed and could result in removal from the platform. In other words, if credit card companies get mad about something, they could actually have the power to ban a game. The

Mac graphics settings for Cyberpunk 2077 aim for console-like simplicity

CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition is coming to the Mac this week, a few months after the port was announced as part of Apple’s M4 MacBook Pro introduction last fall. The good news for Mac gamers is that Cyberpunk will run on just about anything with Apple Silicon in it, going all the way back to the original M1 (though owners of the last few fading Intel Macs won’t be able to play it at all). One hard-and-fast requirement for playability is at least 16GB of unified RAM. The 8GB

Trump and the Energy Industry Are Eager to Power AI With Fossil Fuels

AI is “not my thing,” President Donald Trump admitted during a speech in Pittsburgh on Tuesday. However, the president said during his remarks at the Energy and Innovation Summit, his advisors had told him just how important energy was to the future of AI. “You need double the electric of what we have right now, and maybe even more than that,” Trump said, recalling a conversation with “David”—most likely White House AI czar David Sacks, a panelist at the summit. “I said, what, are you kidding?

Forget copyright strikes, a retro gaming YouTuber faces possible jail time for reviewing gaming handhelds

TL;DR Retro gaming YouTuber Once Were Nerd has been sued and raided by the Italian government. Consoles were seized and channels may be closed for promoting piracy of copyrighted material. Some of these devices ship with pre-loaded ROMs, which appears to be the source of the complaint. While gaming content continues to grow and thrive on video platforms like Twitch and YouTube, copyright remains a sticky issue. Most companies look the other way when it comes to game streaming, but emulation i

I'm Switching to Python and Actually Liking It

I started to code more in Python around 6 months ago. Why? Because of AI, obviously. It’s clear (to me) that big money opportunities are all over AI these days. And guess what’s the de facto programming language for AI? Yep, that sneaky one. I had used Python before, but only for small scripts. For example, this script scrapes metadata from all videos on my YouTube channel. The metadata is dumped as a JSON file that I use to nicely display statistics of the videos on this static page. As you ca

‘Extremely Severe’ Obesity in American Kids Is Surging, Study Finds

Many Americans today are living with obesity, even with the advent of newer, more effective drugs like semaglutide (the active ingredient in Ozempic and Wegovy). It’s a problem that seems to be getting especially serious in kids, however. CERN Physicists Find Key Piece of the Matter-Antimatter Puzzle

All matter in our universe has an evil twin: antimatter. Cosmological models suggest that the Big Bang should have created equal amounts of matter and antimatter that cancel each other out. But for reasons physicists still aren’t completely sure about, that didn’t happen. As a result, our universe today hosts slightly more matter than antimatter—our very existence being clear, physical proof. Now, we might be one step closer to explaining why there’s an imbalance between matter and antimatter,

In a paper published today in Nature, astronomers presented HOPS-315: a Sun-like protostar cooking up a brew of hot minerals and silicon monoxide gas, located about 1,300 light-years away from Earth. The special thing about HOPS-315 is that the baby star and its surrounding environment bear a striking resemblance to an earlier version of our own sol

Our 11 Favorite Air Quality Monitors We’ve Tried (2025)

In the past five years, I’ve tested dozens of indoor air-quality monitors but have relied on my iPhone’s Weather app to check outdoor air quality. On questionable days that might include haze or the smell of wildfire, I’ll check the government’s free AirNow website, where I’ll plug in my zip code and see its easy-to-read air quality meter. With the increasing wildfire activity from coast to coast, however, I realized it was time to test an outdoor air-quality monitor. The Zen is larger than the

Stellantis abandons hydrogen fuel cell development

To paraphrase Mean Girls, "stop trying to make hydrogen happen." For some years now, detractors of battery electric vehicles have held up hydrogen as a clean fuel panacea. That sometimes refers to hydrogen combustion engines, but more often, it's hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles, or FCEVs. Both promise motoring with only water emitted from the vehicles' exhausts. It's just that hydrogen actually kinda sucks as a fuel, and automaker Stellantis announced today that it is ending the developmen
