The Army Is Giving Up on War Horses

The U.S. military is finally done horsing around. Record-Setting Qubit Performance Marks Important Step Toward Practical Quantum Computing

The promise of so-called “quantum advantage” is simple. But before quantum advantage drastically changes information technology as we know it, researchers have yet to address the many hurdles that are preventing quantum computers from entering into the mainstream. That said, quantum computing as a field has evolved drama

‘People Are Going to Die’: A Malnutrition Crisis Looms in the Wake of USAID Cuts

Few lifesaving tools are as effective as ready-to-use therapeutic foods, known as RUTFs, which are specially designed to treat severe malnutrition and often resemble fortified peanut butter. Despite announcing a $50 million pledged to fund RUTFs earlier this summer, the Trump administration's deep cuts to foreign assistance have wreaked havoc on RUTF distribution globally, and the State Department hasn’t placed orders with leading suppliers this year. Experts say the disruptions will result in m

Supabase MCP can leak your entire SQL database

Model Context Protocol (MCP) has emerged as a standard way for LLMs to interact with external tools. While this unlocks new capabilities, it also introduces new risk surfaces. In this post, we show how an attacker can exploit Supabase’s MCP integration to leak a developer’s private SQL tables. The Problem LLMs are often used to process data according to pre-defined instructions. The system prompt, user instructions, and the data context is provided to the LLM as text. The Tradeoffs of SSMs and Transformers

This blog post was adapted from a talk I’ve given a handful of times over the last year. It was meant to be a high-level talk accessible to a fairly broad audience, but hopefully has some interesting insights, opinions, and intuitions around sequence models for the dedicated researchers too. State Space Models Just so we’re on the same page, I’ll start by defining what I mean by a state space model. (This section isn’t strictly necessary to get to the main part of this post though; feel free t

Bootstrapping a side project into a profitable seven-figure business

Bootstrapping a side project into a profitable seven-figure business in four years. We really did it! We bootstrapped ProjectionLab to $1,000,000 in annual recurring revenue. And I’m still processing that this is real. 🥹 Back in 2021, I was inspired by the financial independence movement and wanted a better way to plan my own life. I couldn’t find the right tool, so I started building. I had no idea that side project would one day help over 100,000 households plan for their financial future

Mike Lindell lost defamation case, and his lawyers were fined for AI hallucinations

Lawyers representing MyPillow and its CEO Mike Lindell were fined $6,000 after using artificial intelligence in a brief that was riddled with misquotes and citations to fictional cases. Attorney Christopher Kachouroff and the law firm of McSweeney Cynkar & Kachouroff were fined $3,000, jointly and severally. Attorney Jennifer DeMaster was separately ordered to pay $3,000. This "is the least severe sanction adequate to deter and punish defense counsel in this instance," US District Judge Nina Wa

Where’s your new Google Photos editor? Google shares updated timetable

Google Photos recently celebrated its 10-year anniversary, and while we’re thankful for all the memories it’s helped us preserve along the way, we were also very excited to hear about what’s coming next, with promises of a bold new editing experience about to roll out. When sharing the news back in May, Google communicated that initial access would get underway for Android users in June, with iOS support following later. We’re soundly into July by this point, and still haven’t seen the new edito

Supabase MCP leaks your entire SQL Database, a lethal trifecta attack

Supabase MCP can leak your entire SQL database (via) Here's yet another example of a lethal trifecta attack, where an LLM system combines access to private data, exposure to potentially malicious instructions and a mechanism to communicate data back out to an attacker. In this case, General Analysis identify all three components in a single MCP - the Supabase MCP. They imagine a scenario where a developer asks Cursor, running the Supabase MCP, to "use cursor’s agent to list the latest support

Is Marshall Clearing House? These Wireless Earbuds Drop to All-Time Low for Prime Day

Finding the right pair of wireless earbuds is harder than it sounds. You want something with strong, reliable sound, enough battery life to last you through the day, and a fit that doesn’t make you constantly readjust on your morning walk. But at the same time, you want something that looks cool, too. AirPods are a great option for this, but you probably don’t want to spend too much on earbuds just to feel like you’re getting a fun accessory. What you need now is a pair of earbuds that fill the
