Remember Judas? No, not the biblical figure and not the Lady Gaga bop, this Judas is a project from Ghost Story Games. If you don't remember, it's the game that was reportedly in " development hell " before it was even announced . The team, led by BioShock creator Ken Levine, had gone pretty quiet for a few years after releasing the debut trailer, but today teased a look at some key art and mechanics for the game. The BioShock lineage is clear from the handful of visuals we've seen so far, but

The Trump administration promised a fourth wireless carrier — America got a hot mess instead

With Dish Network owner EchoStar selling $23 billion in valuable spectrum to AT&T, any pretense that the TV provider will become a serious wireless competitor is dead. But the project was always doomed to fail, and despite plenty of assurances by the Trump administration and other companies involved, the very obvious writing was always on the wall. More than 9,000 T-Mobile employees lost their jobs, the wireless sector stopped seriously competing on price, and T-Mobile increasingly began to beh

European banks hit by rogue PayPal payments worth 'billions' The BBC has approached PayPal for comment. Double Fine’s Keeper may have the most endearing video game double act since Banjo and Kazooie

It’s been a while since Tim Schafer’s done press briefings, he admits. The head of Double Fine, a studio best known for the Psychonauts series, is trying to explain Keeper, a puzzle adventure game where you are, literally, a sentient, walking lighthouse. Double Fine is now one of several studios bought up by Microsoft and the team apparently took the opportunity to lean into all the resources available and, he said, “make something weird.” It’s definitely that. Unlocking enterprise agility in the API economy

From CapEx to OpEx: The new connectivity mindset Another, practical concern is also driving this shift: the need for IT models that align cost with usage. Rising uncertainty about inflation, consumer spending, business investment, and global supply chains are just a few of the economic factors weighing on company decision-making. And chief information officers (CIOs) are scrutinizing capital-expenditure-heavy infrastructure more closely and increasingly adopting operating-expenses-based subscri

Terraton wants to be the McDonald’s of biochar

If there’s one thing McDonald’s has done for the world, it’s made starting a burger restaurant relatively straightforward. Franchisees buy into the system, and in return they get equipment, marketing, and even an operating manual. Terraton wants to bring that same model to biochar, a technology that turns agricultural waste into a carbon dioxide-sequestering fertilizer. Terraton recently raised a $11.5 million seed round for it’s “business-in-a-box” approach to biochar project development, the

Light pollution prolongs avian activity

If the songbirds in your neighborhood are waking you up earlier and chirping well into the evening, blame light pollution. Artificial light touches nearly every corner of Earth’s surface, and a new study shows that it’s messing with birds’ biological clocks. Researchers analyzed a global acoustic dataset of more than 60 million recorded birdsongs representing more than 580 diurnal bird species. The findings, published Thursday, August 21, in the journal Science, show that light pollution has pr

AT&T acquires $23 billion worth of spectrum licenses from EchoStar

AT&T is set to acquire $23 billion worth of spectrum licenses from EchoStar, the parent company of Dish Network, Sling TV and Boost Mobile. The FCC's regulations take a 'use it or lose it ' approach to ensure that the spectrum li

Ask HN: How can I recover and run my old mobile game from the 2010s?

I developed a game called "Putter King Adventure Golf" for iOS and Android back in the 2010s. It's long since disappeared from the app stores, but my son recently asked if he could play it, which got me thinking about whether it might be recoverable. I'm wondering if there's any way to find a copy of it somewhere on the web (I assume it was probably pirated at some point during its lifetime). And if I could find it, what would be the best approach to get it running again? Has anyone here succe

The Pixel Watch 4 doesn’t fix a longtime Fitbit problem, and I hate it

Kaitlyn Cimino / Android Authority Google unveiled the new and improved Pixel Watch 4, yet one of my long-standing asks remains unanswered: true multi-device support. With AI coaching arriving in October, I’d love to see Fitbit allow more than one active device per user. When brands like Garmin and Apple handle this seamlessly, its absence is starting to feel less like an oversight and more like a conscious trade-off. If you could use a Fitbit along with the Pixel Watch, would you do that? 104

Saudi AI Firm Launches Halal Chatbot

Companies with AI chatbots love to highlight their capability as translators, but they still default to English, both in function and in the information they are trained on. With that in mind, Humain, an AI company in Saudi Arabia, has now launched an Arabic-native chatbot. The bot, called Humain Chat, runs on the Allam large language model, according to Bloomberg, which the company claims was trained on “one of the largest Arabic datasets ever assembled” and is the “world’s most advanced Arabi

Hasbro’s Great ‘Star Wars’ SDCC Figures Are Going to Be Easier to Get—But With Some Big Caveats

Earlier this summer, Hasbro wowed SDCC with an exclusive Star Wars two-pack celebrating Revenge of the Sith‘s 20th anniversary. The good news is, if you just want the figures that were included of Anakin and Obi-Wan, they’re coming. The bad news is… well, you’re losing a lot in the process if you missed out on the now-sold-out set. Over the weekend at Fan Expo Canada, Hasbro confirmed that the newly updated Black Series figures of Anakin and Obi-Wan that were first released in the SDCC-exclusiv
