As Trump Comes for Your Social Media, It’s Time You Consider What’s Worth Sharing

Agents of the Trump administration are increasingly using social media posts to crack down on immigrants, tourists, and even some U.S. citizens. Last month, a leaked document showed the State Department had crafted a new standard for reviewing the social media accounts of any foreign students planning to attend or even visit Harvard University. Legal immigrants may have benefits denied based on social media activity, and people expressing opinions or acting contrary to Trump are being detained a

Simulink (Matlab) Copilot

Before I start - Yes, I know the differential equation in the video is wrong. I’ve already fixed it by tweaking the prompt and the script so the inputs depend on what’s being asked. The original issue was that blocks like Sum were being pasted in without matching the right number of inputs and outputs. I’m a 2nd-year aero-engineering student at Imperial College London, I enjoy problem solving (did BPhO - gold and UKMT Gold) I'm a full-stack dev (or atleast trying to be lol) who hacked together

Kwikset’s newest smart lock gets almost everything right

Legacy lock maker Kwikset has been producing innovative smart locks since 2013, when it released the first touch-to-open lock, the Kwikset Kevo. Kwikset has not shied away from new tech. Its latest model, the Halo Select ($279.99), is one of the first full-replacement Matter-over-Thread smart locks. I’ve tested almost ever

Are Those Viral ‘Cooling Blankets’ for Real?

If you spend much time on the internet, you will see the same things pop up again and again. For me, it's these “cooling blankets” that people talk about on social media. I mean, it sounds great for summer—just like a blanket that warms you up but in reverse. Sadly, these products don’t do what they claim. They might be breathable so they don’t make you as hot as an ordinary blanket would, but you’d still be cooler with no blanket at all. However, there is hope. Someone has created a real cooli

Rohde and Schwarz AMIQ Modulation Generator Teardown

Introduction Every few months, a local company auctions off all kinds of lab, production and test equipment. I shouldn’t be subscribed to their email list but I am, and that’s one way I end up with more stuff that I don’t really need. During a recent auction, I got my hands on a Rohde & Schwarz AMIQ, an I/Q modulation generator, for a grand total of $45. Add to that another 30% for the auction fee and taxes and you’re still paying much less than what others would pay for a round of golf? But i

Bybit hacked for almost $1.5 billion in the biggest crypto theft ever

While 20th-century heists involved scoping out a location, recruiting a person on the inside and having a daredevil getaway driver waiting outside, the 21st-century version looks more like what Bybit experienced today. A hacker stole nearly $1.5 billion in Ethereum (ETH) and staked Ethereum from one of the exchange's offline wallets, nabbing the largest cryptocurrency haul ever. One blockchain security expert said it's likely the all-time biggest heist of any kind, not just crypto. Bybit CEO Be

New NailaoLocker ransomware used against EU healthcare orgs

A previously undocumented ransomware payload named NailaoLocker has been spotted in attacks targeting European healthcare organizations between June and October 2024. The attacks exploited CVE-2024-24919, a Check Point Security Gateway vulnerability, to gain access to targeted networks and deploy the ShadowPad and PlugX malware, two families tightly associated with Chinese state-sponsored threat groups.
