Tesla must pay $329M in damages in fatal Autopilot case, jury says

A jury in Miami has determined that Tesla should be held partly liable for a fatal 2019 Autopilot crash, and must compensate the family of the deceased and an injured survivor damages of $329 million. The payout includes $129 million in compensatory damages, and $200 million in punitive damages against Tesla. Attorneys for the plaintiffs had asked the jury to award damages of around $345 million. Best Over-Ear Headphones We've Tested (August 2025)

Sennheiser Accentum Plus: If you can't afford Sennheiser's flagship Momentum 4 Wireless headphones or other premium models from Bose, Sony and Apple, the Sennheiser Accentum Plus is a good midrange alternative that doesn't quite offer the same performance as those higher-end models. However, it does offers better build quality and sound than most budget noise canceling headphones. In essence, these are a slightly stripped down version of the Momentum 4 Wireless and share a similar aesthetic and

Truecaller’s call-recording feature won’t work on iPhones from September 30

Users with saved call recordings can either download them to their devices, share them via email or messaging apps, or switch their storage preference to iCloud

Spotify listened and is finally letting you disable this controversial feature

Ryan Haines / Android Authority TL;DR Spotify’s “Create” button can now be removed from the bottom navigation bar. You’ll need to head to Settings to find the option to toggle the button on or off. The new setting is device-specific, so you’ll need to change it on all of your devices. Not all that long ago, Spotify introduced a “Create” button to the bottom navigation bar. While the intention was to make it easier for users to create different types of playlists, a majority of users found th

WIRED Roundup: ChatGPT Goes Full Demon Mode

Louise Matsakis: I got to say, I think calling this a migration is maybe underselling it. This is an evacuation, no? I find this sad in a lot of ways just because I remember when Tuvalu was kind of the poster child for climate change, and it was like, we have to save places like this island nation, and it just sort of feels like, I think practical and understandable and humane, but also, I don't know, an indication that we're giving up and that there's sort of defeat of we're actually just going

TL;DR A new leak has revealed a more complete spec sheet for the Galaxy S25 FE. The phone is expected to feature a 6.7-inch AMOLED display, Exynos 2400 chip, and 45W charging. It looks like the selfie camera will be bumped to 12MP, and the device will weigh around 190g. Let’s look at what you’ll be gettin

Here’s how Android Identity Check will start taking advantage of your smartwatch (APK teardown)

Joe Maring / Android Authority TL;DR Identity Check offers an extra layer of protection when someone steals both your phone and your PIN. By requiring biometrics, Identity Check attempts to limit the harm bad actors could do. Google is working to let you bypass that biometric requirement when your device is connected to a trusted smartwatch. We all want our devices to be secure, but practical considerations mean we’re often striking a balance between security and convenience. That’s not a ba

What we like about it: This is Peloton’s first smart rowing machine, which teaches you how to row and correct your form. Qualcomm could shake things up with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 and 8 Elite 2

Robert Triggs / Android Authority TL;DR Qualcomm might offer a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 and a Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 in the coming months. This suggests another naming convention shakeup of sorts for the brand’s top-tier smartphone processors. Qualcomm launched the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset late last year, which delivered a major leap forward for Android phones. This also marked a change in naming convention compared to the previous Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. However, it seems like both naming co

Amazon already plans to put ads in Alexa+ conversations

Which would you rather have: an AI-powered Alexa+ that advertises to you, or an AI-lacking Siri that doesn’t? Hopefully Apple can sort out its AI struggles and users never have to face that decision. But if you’re an Alexa+ user, it sounds like more ads are definitely in your future. Amazon CEO touts opportunities for advertising through Alexa+ Amazon reported its quarterly earnings this week, and the AI-powered Alexa+ unsurprisingly came up. You may see this model nicely discounted because Bowers & Wilkins has released the

Live coding interviews measure stress, not coding skills

Some people enjoy live coding interviews. I’m not one of them. Two days ago, I stumbled upon a post on LinkedIn: Sounds absurd at first. Why would a senior engineer, who has been writing code for years, struggle with something as simple as a basic algorithm? Did they suddenly forget how to code? Maybe. But I have a different perspective. A quick story # Four years ago, I applied for Toptal. I passed the initial stage(s). I passed a 90-minute Codility assessment (three problems as I recall it

Hidden iOS 26 Features Apple Didn't Mention at WWDC

Apple's next iPhone operating system is making several big changes to the iPhone experience. iOS 26 will give everything a more transparent, bubbly look in the Liquid Glass design -- and it also adds new live language translations to your calls and offers more protections against unwanted spam. But there are a number of changes that don't make splashy headlines. These include being able to set how many minutes you want to snooze, making an easy control center shortcut for reminders and having t

Samsung’s 60W Galaxy S26 Ultra upgrade is exciting, but I have concerns

As a proponent of fast charging convenience, the report that Samsung will increase the power of next year’s Galaxy S26 Ultra to 60W is music to my ears. The current 45W power level is already in a sweet spot, taking just under an hour to fully charge the phone. Still, that extra boost will undoubtedly come in handy when you need to bring the phone back from the brink quickly. More juice in fewer minutes is always welcome when you’re in a hurry. And yet, I feel a sting of hesitation — a faster-

'Japanese Walking' Is Trending, but Is Walking Exercise? Personal Trainers Answer

Also called interval walking training, a trend known as "Japanese walking" is having a moment. According to The Washington Post, though it's trending now, Japanese walking isn't new. It originated from a 2007 study in Japan that found that high-intensity interval walking may protect middle-aged and older people from dealing with increases in blood pressure and decreases in muscle strength and peak oxygen uptake. Recently, a July 2025 study also concluded that prefrail and frail older adults who

Proposed "Click to Cancel" Act tackles subscription traps with clearer cancellation rules (again)

What just happened? A court decision temporarily halted the rollout of the FTC's click-to-cancel rule last month, but the drive for greater transparency and simplicity for consumers navigating the subscription economy remains strong. State-level regulations on automatic renewals are still in effect in areas such as California and New York, and now federal lawmakers are once again turning their attention to this issue. Democratic lawmakers have introduced the Click to Cancel Act, a bill designed

6 reasons why I prefer self hosted apps — and why you should too

Dhruv Bhutani / Android Authority Lately, there’s a lot of hype around self-hosting and running your own apps on a home lab or NAS. But you might be wondering what you stand to gain from it? After all, Google, Apple, and many others offer perfectly competent app suites. That’s what I thought too. But for the last few years, I’ve dived deep into the world of open source and self-hosting. And if you’re curious why, saddle up — I’ve got some thoughts to share. When I first dived into self-hosting
